PRAISE AND WORSHIP

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24

THE BIBLE SAYS…

PSALMS 91:1-6

“O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.”

PSALMS 96:9-11

“O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth. Say among the heathen that the Lord reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously. Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.”

PSALMS 150:1-6

“Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”

THEREFORE…

WE SING JOYFULLY TO THE LORD: He loves to hear His children singing to Him!

“Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation. Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations. For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised:” 1 Chronicles 16:23-25a

WE THANK HIM FOR HIS GOODNESS: We lift our voices for the Lord is worthy!

“Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”  Psalm 100

WE PRAISE HIM FOR HIS MERCY AND TRUTH: He is our Lord and Master.

“Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.” Psalm 115:1

WE LIFT OUR HANDS TO HIM: We are instructed in God’s Word to assume this posture in worship. It suggests surrender, trust, and a desire to receive from Him.

“I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” 1 Timothy 2:8

WE REVERENTLY ADORE HIM AND PROCLAIM HIS GLORY: The Lord is great and greatly to be praised.

“Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” Psalms 29:2

WE PRAISE HIM WITH MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS AND CLAPPING: We love the Lord with all our hearts, minds, souls, and strength.

“Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.” Psalms 33:2

“O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.” Psalms 47:1

WE SING NEW SONGS: God loves to hear His people sing of His righteousness and judgement.

“Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.” Psalms 33:3-4

WE REJOICE IN THE LORD: Our joy is overflowing, and we delight in Him. Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and we are his people!

“Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.” Psalms 149:2-4
